Paul caught the music bug early on. His father, a trained trumpeter, insisted that a keyboard was the basis for all theory and forced an accordion on him at age 5.  The trauma of an instrument larger than himself at the time led to a rebellion after several months.  He switched to clarinet and bass clarinet and later percussion in his high school marching band, but spent his spare time listening to Queen, the Who, and Yes.  He quickly gravitated to punk and new wave and discovered many of the new sounds he liked were coming out of Boston.

During his sophomore year at Northeastern University, he became bassist for the Lemmings and soon after, Scatterfield. Both bands were local favorites in the early 90's. After that he looked for situations where he could contribute as a songwriter and be involved in business aspects of a band. He went on to co-form several local bands including Cleopatra Jones, Crisis of Faith and Jet Velvet Trash.

Paul is not your typical moody bass player in the corner (this pix not withstanding), but a player who drives the band from underneath. To do that, he tries to come up with parts that are emotive, and rhythmically and melodically strong.
